Sometimes my coupons get out of control when I’m not looking! Remember I was stressing out about my huge coupon mess? Well, I got organized again! YAY! I hope seeing my strategy helps you figure out how what works best for you..
1. Fill a 3-ring binder with baseball card inserts to keep all your clipped coupons organized. The inserts are $5.77 for 36 sheets at Walmart and $5.00 for 30 sheets at Kmart. A 2″ binder is sufficient for the # of inserts I purchase. If you’re buying more inserts for a bigger family, you may want to invest in a 3″ binder straight away.
2. Carry it in a tote. I use a tote bag I got FREE in a gift with purchase. It’s just big enough to hold my binder and a few of my reusable shopping bags. I always keep this in my car!
3. Use a small accordian file for that week’s transactions. When I plan my shopping trips, I pull coupons out of the binder and put them in the accordian file I found at the dollar store. I use the dividers to separate my coupons by the stores I’ll be shopping that week. I keep all my rewards cards in the very back pocket. This one stays in my purse. I have a huge purse ;-)
Here’s a brief summary of another method that may work for you. Get a file box. Print the coupon preview list every week and attach it to a file folder with that week’s inserts. Only clip the coupons you will use that week and cross them off the list as you use them. Put the file folders in the file box and keep the inserts until all coupons in them have expired. (My 2 cents: I cannot do this method because it would make me crazy to not have my coupons with me. If I happen to find a clearance item I have a coupon for I can just run out to my car!)
Do you have another method that works for you?
