A Twist on Pumpkin Pie + coupon match-ups

At the savings.com event in San Francisco, we observed the culinary wonders of Foodie Daddy.  He made this no-bake pumpkin pie in front of our eyes in less than 5 minutes.  I’m not embarrassed to say I inhaled my quarter-pie sized serving like I hadn’t eaten in a week.  YUM.  I’m planning to make it for Thanksgiving and here are the coupon match-ups for the ingredients:

pumpkin

Foodie Daddy’s 5 SPICE PUMPKIN PIE
4 oz Pumpkin Puree
8 oz Heavy Cream – whipped ($1/1 Organic Valley HERE or $0.35/1 C.F. Burger 11-8 RP)
1T. Sugar ($0.50/1 Domino 10-18 RP)
1 box Jello Pudding Mix, Vanilla
2 t. Chinese Five Spice (click the recipe link below for FD’s explanation on the difference between Chinese 5-spice and pumpkin pie spice! *Update:  I saw it at Family Fare last night for $5.99 (McCormick), so it’s pricey but it can be used in all 3 of his recipes.)
1 pinch of salt
1 Ready Made Pie Shell ($0.55/1 Keebler Ready crust OR $0.50/1 Pillsbury Rolled Refrig Crust HERE)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well incorporated. Fill pie shell and refrigerate. Top with whipped cream.

We also taste-tested his Pumpkin Gazpacho and 5-Spice Pumpkin Bisque… yum!  Get the recipes HERE.

Thanks, Foodie Daddy!

Amazon: Flip Mino

Thanks to savings.com, I received one of these AWESOME Flip Mino Series 2GB Camcorders on my recent trip to SF.  It’s SO cool!  As soon as I gather the courage, I will post a Savvy Shopping video for your viewing pleasure. haha  Seriously, though, it is SO easy to use.  It’s smaller than the palm of my hand and has the USB adapter built right in!  You can take 60 min of video.

Amazon has them for only $99 (FREE shipping) and I think it would make a great Christmas present for you(!) or someone on your list!  Check it out HERE. (I also love the Purple Flourish color!  So girlie!)

Save Up ‘09 – San Francisco

W.o.w.  What an amazing day we had at the savings.com Save Up event yesterday!  I learned SO much and there’s so much more to learn!  It was cool to meet all the other DealPros and some of the celebrities of frugal blogging.  I tried to ask questions and just listen.  I’m so inspired to continue on this journey…
So, I’m hanging at the W tonight (with the glowing buddha in my room) just trying to relax and recover before returning to reality tomorrow morning.  Can’t wait for the next chapter!

My Big EXCITING News!

I’ll do my very best to make a long story short…

Six months ago, I was invited to a “coupon class.”  Unfortunately, I didn’t make it a priority to go.  I thought coupons were trivial.  I thought they were for items I never use and couldn’t understand how they would even come close to making a dent in my weekly budget.  I was SOOOO wrong (and I would like to explain just how wrong… in another post.)

Anyway, I eventually caught on to this whole “couponing” thing and discovered my brain totally gets it and my personality totally digs it.  Let me tell you, I like nice things (unfortunately another “personality thing”) and coupons afford me my nice things FREE or really super cheap!

So… fast-forward to now.  Shannon at For the Mommas is awesome and she suggested I apply to be a Savings.com DealPro.  This is a DealPro:

A DealPro is someone who is passionate about finding deals and coupons. Their money-saving advice is sought after by their friends and family. A DealPro thrives off sharing their saving savvy with with others. Does this sound like you? If so, you’re who we’re looking for.

I knew I was/am pretty good at Savvy Shopping, but was I good enough to be considered for one of 30 DealPro spots?  The answer is “YES!”  So, on November 5, I will be attending Savings.com’s Save Up Event in San Francisco.  I will learn to be better at bringing you the best deals!

So… STAY TUNED.  You should see some improvements in the blog and the deals when I return!  WOO HOO :-)
