Due to crazy phone issues, I lost the photo of this week’s $25/wk Food Budget Challenge shopping trip. The good news is I was only 2¢ overbudget this week! I had a bit of overage and used it to stock up on the General Mills deal and ground turkey at Family Fare this week.
I got 10 boxes of Nature Valley granola bars for only $1.60 per box. That’s not the best price I’ve even gotten, but they’re great for travel and running season so I seized the opportunity.
On the menu for this week: oatmeal, granola with yogurt, black bean taco salad… and recipes from TWO cookbook reviews I have coming up for you next week. I love getting new cookbooks for inspiration, don’t you?
Check out the $25/wk Food Budget Tally here. How did your food shopping go this week? Did you come in under budget?

Last Friday on Fox 17′s The One Seven, we talked about frugal, chic fashion. Here are my favorite ways to save on stylish clothing:
- Visit resale boutiques in West Michigan. You know one of my favorites is Rosa’s Closet (she has new clothing, too). I still need to check out Rock Paper Scissors and One Girl’s Treasure, too.
- Keep an eye on daily group deal sites such as Groupon, Seize the Deal, and LivingSocial. They’ve had deals for 50% off Lee & Birch (in downtown Grand Rapids & Muskegon), Gap, & Nordstrom Rack in the past.
- Use the 2011 Local First Coupon Book. They have coupons for lots of West Michigan merchants such as Clothing Matters, Leigh’s and Gazelle Sports.
- When you’re shopping online, use a cash back website, do a quick coupon code search, and check for FREE shipping!
Oh, and the scarf I’m wearing in the video is from the W.A.R. Chest Boutique in Rockford. They have lots of affordable jewelry and accessories, and it all benefits a great cause!
Do you have any frugal fashion tips to share?
