Final Day of Blissdom. Rosa’s Closet #Giveaway

It’s the last day of Blissdom conference in Nashville. Scott Stratten from @unmarketing just gave a really fabulous closing keynote. I’ve really enjoyed learning from those who are so successful in social media.

As much as I loved yesterday’s Rosa’s closet outfit, today’s just rocks. It’s so me.  Have you stopped into her store yet?  I’m really curious to hear what treasures you found.

The herringbone dress is resale.  The jacket is new, and it was only $40 because it was 50% off.  It’s such a versatile piece. I’ll be able to wear it with anything!  The boots and jewelry are my own.  I could have added brightly colored tights for something extra fun.  (Click photos to enlarge.)

#GR Neighborhood Markets: Kingma’s Market

kingmas market grand rapidsI love using coupons in our Grand Rapids grocery stores to get staple food items for less.  How much do you use your local neighborhood market to supplement your food shopping?  Especially for produce?

The other day I stopped at Kingma’s Market and Butcher Shoppe because I’ve been impressed by the low produce prices they advertise on their sign.  We had a great discussion in the comments section of my Trader Joe’s post and I mentioned that I’ve never been super crazy about center store.  I prefer a format with a focus on fresh and very little processed, boxed goods.  Kingma’s Market is a great example of that structure.

grand rapids grocery food storesJen at The Big Binder loves Ken’s Fruit Market in her neighborhood. It’s structured the same way.  Both stores have a knowledgeable meat counter with fresh cuts.

kingmas market food groceryIf you need staples like beans and rice, Kingma’s is very reasonably priced.  It’s certainly a valid option for frugal food shopping in West Michigan.

Rosa’s Closet: Frugal, Fabulous Clothing

When I showed you yesterday’s outfit , I mentioned how large the Gaylord Opryland Hotel is. 600,000 square feet.  Umm, hello.

Sorry this is so late in posting, but today’s the first “official” day of Blissdom Conference and we’ve been in session all morning.  I’m wearing some of my favorite Rosa’s Closet pieces. Rosa put together some resale and new clothing from her shop… right down to the jewelry.

The tank and jacket are new.  The boots and necklace are resale.  The jeans are mine.  Isn’t it a fabulous combo? I’ve gotten SO many compliments on the boots already. They’re a little funky and so fun!  (Click photos to enlarge.)

Inspiration: Great Depression Cooking

I was recently reminded of cute little Clara from Great Depression Cooking when I saw one of her youtube videos the other day.  She describes frugal cooking methods they used during the depression.  In the particular video I watched, she was making breakfast and demonstrated a special sugar cookie they served with coffee — but only as a treat on Saturdays.  All of her videos are worth watching.

I think what I find so appealing is just going back to our roots and embracing slow food methods. Taking time to prepare our foods and taking the time to savor them.  Then again, where do you find that extra time?

Rosa’s Closet: Resale & New Clothing

We arrived at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel last night for Blissdom.  Have you been here? This place is ridiculously huge. I need to find the square footage…

Anyway, check out my Rosa’s Closet outfit for today! Isn’t it cute?! Rosa put together a mix of resale clothing for me.  I LOVE the sweater. The belt detail is amazing.  I mixed the shirt & sweater with my own jeans.  So affordable.
